The Tenets of Tae Kwon Do
Courtesy
To be polite and courteous to one another
To encourage the sense of Justice.
Integrity
Being able to define right from wrong.
Being able to admit when you were wrong.
To have a conscience.
Perseverance
There is and old oriental saying, “Patience leads to virtue and merit”. A serious student must learn to be patient and to continue steadfastly and persevere.
Self Control
This tenet is extremely important inside and outside of our DoJang (school), whether conducting one’s self in free sparring or in one’s personal affairs. A loss of one’s self-control can prove disastrous to both student and opponent.
Indomitable Spirit
A serious student will at all times be modest and honest. He/she will confront injustice and face fear without hesitation. He/she will never give up, never quit and never submit to defeat at those times when challenges seem impossible.
